A new look, a new outlook
I'm an overthinker. I'm hypercritical. I rarely see personal projects through to their conclusion. As of today, I'm changing my ways.
A new look
I'm my own worst client. Without a genuine deadline to keep me on track, I find that my tendancies to strive for perfection halt any significant progress with personal projects. If I told you how many times I've started afresh with this blog, you wouldn't believe me.
That said, what you see before you is a place for me to share my musings. I'm a twenty-something web designer from Lincolnshire. I'm passionate about what I do and I'm commited to improving my craft.
The blog was designed in Sketch and makes use of the beautiful Omnes Pro, served by Typekit. The purple hue is courtesy of my eldest son, Noah.
A new outlook
Whilst this may be somewhat sombre, my new outlook stems from a recent nudge as to my own mortality.
When attending the memorial service of a family member we lost earlier in the year, something was said that really resonated with me. It addressed the fact that our time on this planet is minimal. We have a limited opportunity to make a difference.
Whilst hardly groundbreaking, it's not very often that we take the time to reflect on this. Ironically, life normally gets in the way.
Upon hearing this, I decided that I needed to change my ways. My overthinking and hypercritical nature has, without doubt, held back my professional progression. Countless personal projects sit unfinished on my servers because I've had minor insecurities about releasing them in the wild.
From hereon in, that changes.
More to come
I'm currently working on numerous opinion articles and tutorials for this blog, along with developing a web site for my freelance guise, Unit Creative.
